Senseair AB, a Swedish leader in gas sensor technology, specializes in the development and production of NDIR sensors (non-dispersive infrared), a reliable, accurate, and cost-effective optical measurement technique. For over 30 years, Senseair has provided sensors across industries like indoor air quality monitoring, automotive safety, and energy efficiency.

Now, Senseair is bringing its expertise to environmental monitoring applications with the K96 sensor โ€” a compact, high-resolution, multi-channel NDIR sensor designed to measure key greenhouse gases like CO2, CH4, and N2O.

Key features of the K96:

  • Small size (4cm x 3cm x 3cm), made of high-quality plastic material, and designed for low-cost mass production.
  • Capable of measuring up to 3 gases simultaneously with varying resolutions and concentration ranges.
  • Patented optical design that compensates for real-time cross-interferences between NDIR channels (e.g., CH4 and H2O).

As part of the MISO project, we are optimizing the K96 sensor for CH4 and CO2 measurements in three key use cases:

  1. Continuous monitoring in static observatories
  2. Hotspot detection by drone
  3. Soil emissions using flux chambers

Key developments include:

  • Thermal stabilization of the sensor for accurate performance in harsh environmental conditions.
  • A calibration model fine-tuned to correct cross-interference between CH4 and H2O measurements, ensuring accurate readings at low atmospheric concentrations.

Weโ€™re now ready to deploy and evaluate the sensors for these use cases and are excited to begin the field trials soon! ๐Ÿš€
